AVIA Global Consulting is seeking a Technical Consulting Expert to support our litigation team across a range of technology-related disputes, including patent, trade secret, copyright, antitrust, commercial, and class action litigation.
This is a non-testifying, behind-the-scenes advisory role focused on helping attorneys understand complex technical subject matter, develop case strategy, and prepare for discovery, depositions, and trial.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible explanations for attorneys and non-technical stakeholders
- Assist counsel in developing case theories, identifying technical strengths and weaknesses, and formulating discovery requests
- Prepare technical summaries, memoranda, and briefing materials
- Help develop deposition outlines and technical questions for opposing witnesses and experts
- Evaluate opposing experts' reports and technical claims for accuracy, methodology, and potential vulnerabilities
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and testifying experts throughout the litigation lifecycle
Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a consulting or testifying expert in technology-based litigation, including patent infringement, trade secret, copyright, antitrust, commercial disputes, or class actions
- Strong expertise in one or more relevant technical domains
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill technical detail for a legal audience
- Experience working within attorney-client privilege and work product protocols
- Detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable managing sensitive and confidential information
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field
Preferred Experience
- Previous collaboration with law firms, in-house legal teams, or expert witness consultancies
- Experience supporting large-scale litigation, multidistrict litigation, or class certification analysis
- Familiarity with patent claim construction, prior art analysis, and infringement analysis
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and technical document review tools
